Our UCU strikers rally

As you can see we have had an excellent rally at our Kings Cross campus, where I'm based :)
Here are some photos from the other striking branches - congratulations to all members involved. It's been a very important step in gaining wins in FE, raising the profile of our sector and importantly developing the branch organisations. https://www.ucu.org.uk/ND4FE-StrikeWall
At Capital City College, spirits were high as members took part in the nationally coordinated strike action. As always on our pickets, members created their own placards (Pay, not cat treats! - was my favourite - our CEO runs a cattery as well as one of the largest FE colleges in the country) and it was a very noisy and determined picket. Members appreciated the visit from Jo Grady as well.
We had reached out to our local Trades Council and other local trade unions - it's really important that we build solidairity and networks with other unions. Ed Harlow from the NEU came down and gave a very impassioned speech about the role of education - certainly focused people's minds on the power of education.
We also discussed the need to build for the Together Alliance on Saturday 28th March - this will be about love, hope and unity. It will be a vital step in combating the rise of Reform UK and the far right.
If elected, I will make sure to tirelessly campaign and act to improve our pay, workload and conditions - whilst also taking active steps to combat inequality.

I’m standing for UCU Vice President (FE) because I care deeply about the whole post-16 education sector. I believe our union can and must be a powerful, organising force that delivers for members. Members want a union that listens, stands up for them, provides real solidarity and is prepared to fight with and for them.
If you have any questions, please get in touch as I really do want to hear from members: rpilling4UCUVP@proton.me
Unfortunately, turnout in UCU elections is often low, so every vote counts. If you support what I’m standing for, please vote for me and encourage others to do the same.
It would be an honour to serve as your UCU Vice President (FE) and to stand up for our members across the sector.
I am standing as a member of UCU Left, here is more information about our slate https://uculeft.org/nec-elections-2026/
